Why Become Ultra? |
I wanted to be a part of Becoming Ultra because I wanted a challenge that even I didn’t think I could do. Running 50 miles goes beyond seeming impossible, it seems ridiculous. It’s the perfect challenge to take on to test myself, and you can’t stop me once I put my mind to something. I’m excited about what I will learn about myself, and I want to see and show others the value in pushing yourself beyond the limits we put upon ourselves.

My Running History |
I grew up across the street from a cornfield in a small town outside of Chicago. I am the youngest of five kids, and many weekends were spent with my family at countless road races, most of which were 10Ks. I took a break from running in college, and after getting a chemistry degree from the University of Illinois, moved to southwest Florida. A few years later, my college sweetheart and I took a trip to Jamaica and got married. We spent many years bartending in the gulf side town, enjoying warm winters and weathering hurricanes. Eventually, I was able to start a career in the crime lab as a Forensic Chemist (that means I test drugs.) Looking for a change of scenery, my husband and I moved to the Las Vegas valley a few years ago. Throughout my adult life, I have dabbled in running as a way to stay fit, selecting races as a goal to stay on track, but I easily got distracted and took many breaks from it. When not running, I like taking my dog to the dog park, reading and writing novels, and taking pictures. In the past two years I have rekindled a true love for running and hope to continue for many years to come.
